The Biggest Big Brother Program in the World!

Abbreviated clip of a 60 Minutes story "The Delinquents" (3 minutes). Several young elephants are relocated to another park in South Africa after their parents were slaughtered due to overcrowding. These young elephants then grow up without the presence of any "role models". Without such guidance or adult supervision the young elephants end up forming a gang and start killing rhinos. Perplexed by the horrific behavior and without any other recourse other than kill the young "delinquent" elephants, the park rangers decide to introduce large male, bull elephants to the area hoping they will establish order and demonstrate proper "adult elephant behavior." The outcome is remarkable -the killing stops virtually overnight! Near the middle of this clip (1:11) you will see the following exchange... Ranger, "The difference is they don't have a father. Bob Simon, "So, everyone needs a dad?" Ranger, Well, I think everyone needs a role model." It would have been nice if the 60 Minutes piece connected the dots and took this storyline a little further. While the elephant story is indeed entertaining — how much more relevant could this story be if they carried this premise forward? 1. This is what we should do to welfare monkeys.
  2. What a GREAT parable!! Come on Baby! We're nothing but mammals! Here's to those mysterious growth factors that are transmitted from Elder to juveniles!!
  3. Don't be "that guy", bro... Nobody likes "that guy"
  4. Pleas direct me to where I can find a copy of the Delinquent Elephants video in it's entirety.
  5. @the1calledv and whoever really wants to know: The young elephants are reaching their musk earlier than they should and they didnt get to be put in their place and they didnt get to spar with other elephants growing up. What they finally did was bring some fully mature bulls into the area, and these bulls shut those young bucks down in immediately!!
  6. @the1calledv one more thought- we tag the rhinos right? With micro chips or whatever.so maybe the elephants recognized the alien microchipping somehow on a primal level - that it was evil, and they killed the rhinos, not for pleasure but to rid the wild habitat of impure unnatural intrusion that was posing a threat to their existance. animals sense impending doom...like earthquakes n such. So,maybe they knew too much! they had to be eliminated-before they exposed the whole thing! RIPbad elephants
  7. ok- so we KILL the adult male elephants- the "deliquent ones"...leaving younger ones - so...wouldnt the now dead adults HAVE BEEN the role models?? Could possibly acting abnornal b due to humans incrouching on their natural balance&perhaps"aggressive behavior towards tourists a protective instinct?no thatd make sense! but hey- us humans have it all figured out, so why not push our agenda not only on other humans- lets fuck with the balance of nature at is core.the elephants will thank us-really?
  8. everyone needs role model
