  13. There are some comments here that suggest some viewer have no idea about Australia and it's size. Quick lesson. It is as big as mainland USA. Has a population of 23 Million. Is the 12th largest economy in the world. The vast distances do not justify the cost of rail to sevice the sparse population centres and remote towns. No matter how remote you are, the services are still first world (a little more expensive though). Unfortunately, there are comments by Americans that suggest they know nothing about other countries (until they go to war in them). An addition to the very controlled movement of oversize loads is a lead vehicle (often police) with a PA system to force all oncoming traffic to pull over off the road long before you even see the load coming at you. Our road infrustructure and rules are strictly adhered to (costly consequences if you don't adhere to them). No, there is no other country in the world that can compare the sizes of road transport (or rail) in remote areas. Don't allow personal pride and flag waving (especially USA comments) change what is FACT. The very thought of remote cannot be appreciated by many of the commentors (23 Million in a country the size of mainland USA). Yes you can overtake these road trains. They don't really maintain a speed over 100kph (60mph). Overtaking distances can stretch for a kilometre or more. However, the length of the straight sections of road allows for safe overtaking with vision stretching into the horizon. Some moron who commented about getting stabbed in the neck while filming must be from the USA. We don't really have these sorts of whackos in these remote areas. No, our truckies are not rednecks. They are mostly very responsible drivers who will generally give other road users lots of leeway. Comments re zooming/panning the camera - there is such a thing as a remote control for cameras. Thes types of transports cannot be driven in metro areas. Comments about stopping these road monsters are exaggerated. The number of wheels all braking together will stop them as well as any large truck. Please do not make wild comments about something one knows nothing about (let alone witnessed it). Please learn about Australia - a well advanced civilized country with first world infrustructure.
  14. Great video Rod. We certainly do have a unique industry here in Australia.
