  1. I'm now dumber for having watched this video.
  2. in my opinion the Major Problem about Music consumption is not the Quality of reproduction, rather than the willingness of the listener to accept lesser Quality for the sake of mobility and quick Access. i guess the convienent factor and affordable Prices, are the most important concerns when it Comes to sell Music. HIFI at it´s best is just to expensive for most People. It is a self-made Problem of the Music industry.
  3. as a producer, I have to say: "that's just shitty and a misleading documentary". Don't take it seriously
  4. some of these artists blaming poor quality equipment such as headphones being a fashion statement leading to poor quality audio are the same celebrities who promote beat's by Dr dre headphones in their music videos.
  5. You want purity, get off your fucking ass and go listen to/support live music.
  6. Frustrating indeed. First people are going on and on in how they liked their walkmans and getto blasters, and then mp3 is the worst thing that ever happened to music?
Truth is, "back in the day" most people didn't buy proper hifi equipment, so back then they also didn't hear the music as it was intended to be heard by the artist. But you did need to go out to the stores to buy vinyl or cassettes, and so, a lot of people just didn't.
Cue current day, more people are enjoying music, and even the most obscure artist or genre can effortlessly be enjoyed by a lot of people, there are no hurdles of unavailability anymore.
And, the same as ever, there are a huge number of audiophiles seeking maximum resolution for their music, both at home as well as on the move. Lossless formats such as FLAC or even super high resolution formats like DSD are available. If the artists are serious about their craft they just need to make sure that they keep recording in increasingly high resolution.
    Do not lament progress.
  7. After seeing this documentary I went on Apple Music and found tons of songs, albums from these artists. So why you do this documentary!?!? Change your policy or managment, and follow what you preach! Then we might go to store and buy your cd. I think I just lost respect to some of those artists.
  8. This is just an ad, right?
One thing remains consistent through the years:
The public doesn't give a damn about sound quality.
  9. Well, Youtube is the most efficient way of showing those differences.
  10. now i know how to do ear rape vids
  11. Linkin Park = Me stop watching.
  12. Data compression and dynamic compression are two completely different things!!
  13. What an astonishing collection of lies. People in the video say how they liked tape cassettes and hate today streaming. However, a few cases aside, this streaming is still way better than tapes in all parameters. Yes, today music sounds dull. But it is not the fault of lossy encodings. It is the fault of the mastering - the fault of those very people shown complaining.
  14. This is just bullshit sound bites.
  15. Ironically, the music bed is annoying and random on this video.
  16. The question I ask myself is will we ever get to a storage capacity and connection speed where size will not be a problem anymore. So that we'll be able to have high quality, aiff or wave audio on the internet. What do you think?
  17. i was thinking for more depth sounds
  18. Pretty interesting to see Snoopy Doggy Lion Dawg try and be all wise about audio. XD
  19. Ha! And they laugh at me cos I "still" buy CDs and Vinyl. I'm happy I just bought the new Depeche Mode album «Spirit» both on vinyl and on CD.
Popularity breeds contempt. Well, they are missing out on their proper sounds. I am glad this doco is letting folk know just exactly what they are missing out on...
  20. This video is LAUGHABLE!!!! They blame US for the compressed music???? It wasn`t us who got rid of the dynamics, it´s YOU, you f...ing bastards who smashed everything and brickwaled great music, and called it "REMASTER"!!! I hate you for this, for the shittiest mastering quality in human history. How dare you to show us a waveform whose dynamics (yes, you fucktards, we can read a spectrogram, too) were cut off, and blame it to lossy compression? My 256 kbps AAC-s go up to 22 kHz, EXACTLY as CD-s do, so there´s no muffled sound like you want us to believe. And by the way, just because a compressed file is 10% in size compared to the original, it doesn´t mean that 90% of the sound is gone, it uses algorythms that calculate how often a certain sample is duplicated, and all it needs to be done is to replicate it while playing, by referencing it to the reference frame, rather than actually writing the bits every single time. IT´S CALLED REDUNDANCY, YOU IDIOTS! The only part that is actually damaging the audio is something called "approximation", where if the bitrate is too low, the criteria that is applied to reference to a certain frame is too loose, and samples that aren´t that similar end up sounding the same (besides the high frequency cut-off that comes with it). But a fairly decent bitrate shouldn´t be a problem, I bet you 10 times out of 10 that my Metallica first press AAC rips sound WAAAAAY better than your lossless remastered crap, YOU BASTARDS!Tell you what: you stop brickwalling the master, and I´ll start buiyng CD-s. But when Death Magnetic sounds better on Guitar Hero, who´s going to fall for that again? I actually bought it, and started cringing while driving. IN MY CAR!!! That wasn´t a friendly environment for critical listening, so as soon I got home, I played it on my audio chain, and my ears were right all along, it sounded HORRIFIC! I had to download it illegally, thanks to a random guy who had more ethics and respect for the music than all of you combined. SHAME ON YOU!
(Does anyone believe that cassette tapes sounded better than today´s 320 kbps mp3-s? WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP!!!)
