He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the World Academy of Productivity and Quality. He has written numerous articles and books, including When No One's Watching: Living and Leading Self-motivation. Scott will examine how we can become self-motivated in "The Psychology of Self-Motivation." In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

  1. Self-Determination Theory.
  2. Love how he refers to B.F Skinner! Knew he was connected to psychology when he mentioned him since most programmers are using his theory (operant conditioning).

  6. To motivate others we have to motivate first. So self esteem is more important to positive change.
  7. Watching YouTube videos is more addictive than heroine.
  8. Lost the motivation half way through the video.
  9. I suppose after almost 4 million views it's going to connect with someone very very closely. 40yo man here who always loved playing the drums. I never had a family who pushed me in the direction. It was the common "you need to do something with definite income". So suffering through I guess a midlife crisis I want to take drums serious before it's too late. I have all of the proper equipment for a fully functional home studio, but I procrastinate. So I find self-motivation videos like this (I didn't know drums were associated). Not only are drums associated, but he mentioned Muhlenburg which is 45 minutes from me. I may be grasping for similarities, but I do find things like this to be a sign to JUST DO IT!!!!!
