  1. I'm confused as when they talked about bowling they showed a portrait of an archer. Even showed and arrow stuck in a target. Is archery called bowling in England? If not, I'm confused.
  2. H8 built 5 palaces - 1 for each of his chins. he owned 55 " gaffs" - 1 for each "squeeze". as for the programme, itself; ya do'nt know what ya'v got 'till it's gone. r i p .
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkCn794yq8MIt was all built by Black British Monarchs of Mediaval England.  Oliver Cromwell committed a genocide
  4. What is the music?
  5. I will give Henry some credit for what he did to the catholics.. they were just as bad as he was. How do you think they got their wealth to begin with. Partially due to brainwashing their followers to leave their wealth to the church upon death and partially from selling salvation. Between that and being the hive of pedophiles they are today I give Henry a round of applause for now cowering to them as most did and do.
  6. Did anyone else notice how the introduction says the buildings he built were a "gift"? How can spending other people's money on ridiculously large buildings for one's own benefit be called a "gift"?

I suppose having a monarch forces people to cultivate this kind of twisted perception, viewing the imposition of rule as a gift and benefit.
  7. he didnt build it
  8. i can hear the director, " come on darlings, lots of exaggerated gestures, yes yes run about excitedly, good good , a bit louder in your exclamations". ffs.

  9. all for a couple of shitters
  10. Im sure Im not the only one that misses this show.
The us version is or was a 100% fail.
  11. henry did not build hampton court palace. it was his head bishop that built it.
  12. Henry the great? How exaggerated!
  13. 24:51 Dragons from the northwest!
  14. While working on Boston's Central Artery Project in the 1990's I was present when a foundation footprint of a 17th century dwelling was discovered in the present day Haymarket area of the city. It was unbelievable!
  15. Henry became brain-damaged following his accident on the playing field
  16. you know, its easy for us to past judgement on those of the past. We have the major advantage of a better understanding of history and the aftermath. To past judgement you need to understand the mental and physical health of Henry VIII. The afflictions and injuries he had and endured caused mental instability that today we can cure and or control with medications. I am not giving Henry a free pass, but as a student of history for 30 yrs, I have come to understand certain things that have caused his seemingly uncontrollable and erratic behavior.Truthfully, I feel sorry for him, as a King, he wasn't privy to the everyday medicines that we have over the counter at any drugstore no matter what our social status is. Had he had access to them, I guarantee we would have a different King to study and a history most different.
  17. The five palaces discussed seemed to have been built either for changes in the royal family or for political reasons. Beaulieu Palace was born for what Henry hoped would be his expanding family when Mary was born. The temporary structure at Calais was to put him on par with François I at the Field of Cloth of Gold. He expanded on Hampton Court mainly to be able to house the entire royal court and to impress Anne Boleyn, then later Jane Seymour. Whitehall was also originally Wolsey's but this really became Henry and Anne's masterwork. Finally, with the birth of Edward, he built Nonesuch.
  18. henry the fat fuck horse shit....
  19. Ok so I am really confused, so why was Henry the 7th staying with friends when he already had Richmond and several Castles? Were these places falling apart and he was unwilling to "foot the bill" for their upkeep??
  20. So how was Henry the 8th so rich? His "Royal Ancestors" where in debt because of war. So doesn't it make sense that he would have inherited a crushing debt load? 1. How on earth were these debts paid and 2. How was he able to afford these Palaces? Was he actively building "on credit" I wonder? If any historians can enlighten me on this, please do :)
