3. Söderling was not "relatively unknown" in the tennis world by 2009. He was ranked top-20 already in 2008. Sure, it was a great upset as it was Nadal's first loss in the French Open, but it does not belong on this list. In history I would for instance rank the US win over England in the 1950 football World Cup as a bigger upset, but it was only an honorable mention here.

   Japan beating South Africa in Rugby was literally the most unlikely, unfathomable result ever. Anyone who knew anything about Rugby would've told you that there's 0 chance of Japan winning, it's just physically impossible. The (at the time) most successful team in Rugby World Cup history vs a team which had only ever won one match in world cup history, and who had suffered previous annihilation, like the 145 point defeat to NZ in 95, the same year where South Africa beat NZ to win the tournament!!!
   
   So yea, this is THE biggest upset in a single sports match EVER and should be higher.

16. Both of these lists are very US orientated. There are great upsets from other countries sporting codes. 2016 AFL grand final saw the ultimate underdog team beat one of the most successful teams of the last decade in a nail biter.
