This caused significant damage to the infrastructure and the economy of the surrounding cities. Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland This is one of Iceland’s largest volcanoes and the most recent eruption occurred in 2010. This caused airports to shut down due to the overwhelming ash which was spewed out. The mountain is 1600 meters high while its crater measures 2.5 miles in diameter.
