Top 10 Largest Planes in the World

Number 10: Dornier Do-X The Dornier Do-X was constructed by Germany in 1929. It was the largest, heaviest flying boat in the world. It took over 240,000 hours to construct. It was created to ‘sneak’ around the Treaty of Versailles which prevented Germany from having aircraft that exceeded certain parameters. Number 9: Tupolev ANT-20 The Tupolev ANT-20 was the largest aircraft to use corrugated sheet metal for its construction. It was a Soviet airplane powered by 8 enormous engines. It was created specifically as a propaganda machine for Stalin and was full of radio transmitters and equipment. Number 8: Boeing 747 Dreamlifter The Boeing 747 Dreamlifter was formerly known as the Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter. It is a modified 747-400. It is only used for carrying Boeing 787 parts to and from the Boeing assembly plants. It was created in 2003 for efficiency purposes as land and marine transports were becoming too slow. Number 7: Boeing 747 The Boeing 747 is almost 3 times larger than the original Boeing 707 (1960s). It can accommodate over 400 passengers in a 3 class configuration or 524 passengers in an all economy class configuration. Number 6: Boeing 747-8 The Boeing 747-8 is the longest passenger aircraft in the world and the largest passenger aircraft built in the U.S. It is the largest of the 747s and a 3rd generation. In 2015, the U.S. government announced Air Force One was being upgraded from a Boeing VC-25 to a Boeing 747-8. Number 5: Antonov An-22 Antheus The Soviet Union designed the Antonov-22 aircraft for military transport. It weighs over 250,000 lbs and has a wingspan of 64 m. It held the title of the world’s largest production airplane from 1965-1969. Number 4: Antonov-224 The Antonov-224 was designed by the former Soviet Union as a military transport airplane. It remains the world’s largest turboprop plane. It has 4 turboprop engines that propel a pair of reverse rotating propellers. Number 3: Airbus A340 From 2001 to 2010 the Airbus A340 was the world’s largest passenger aircraft. It was designed to be a replacement of sorts for the Boeing 747. It can carry 379 passengers in a 3 class cabin. Lufthansa operates the largest number of the Airbus A340 aircraft. Number 2: Airbus A380 The world’s largest passenger airliner is the Airbus A380. It has 4 engines and 2 interior decks. It made its very first flight in April 2005. Its first commercial flight was in 2007. Unbelievably in an all-economy seating arrangement it could accommodate over 800 passengeres. Typically, in the 3 class arrangement it can carry 525 passengers. Number 1: The Antanov An-225’s name ‘Mriya’ means ‘dream’ in Ukrainian. This is the biggest aircraft in the world. It was designed in the 1980s by the former Soviet Union as a cargo aircraft. It still remains the heaviest and longest airplane ever built. Also, the wingspan of 290 ft is the longest wingspan of any plane to date that is still in operation.

  5. 777 IS BIGGER THEN A340 YOU IDIOT!
  6. a380's can carry much more than 525 passengers in an original (3 class configuration). it can carry up to 555 passengers in an original (3 class configuration)
  7. I'm surprised they didn't mention the Airbus Beluga
  8. Antonovs have been messed up. An-22 (No. 5) is the largest turboprop plane, not An-124 (No. 4). An-124 has turbofans as can be seen on the vid. Number 4 is An-124, not "An-224". I suppose Antonov has never even had any -224 model. At 2:13 it is An-225 (No. 1), not An-124.
