Komodo Dragon Very much like Polar Bears, Komodo Dragons are not picky eaters. They will eat anything from birds to water buffalos to humans and they have even been known to dig up bodies from shallow graves. They are prodigious hunters and will wait stealthily until their prey approaches after which they will charge forward, rip out its throat, and retreat while it bleeds out. Once again, like Polar Bears, the only reason their human kill count is so low is probably due to limited interaction as well as the fact that they only really need to eat once a month. 9. Leopard When most animals are wounded they run away and hide. Not leopards. When these dangerous creatures are wounded they become even more dangerous. Not only that, but they’re strong. Anyone who has watched the Discovery Channel knows that they like to hide their prey out of reach. Translation: they drag dead antelopes up trees. 8. Box Jellyfish The box jellyfish is known for its cube-like shape and potentially fatal sting. They are faster than other jellyfish and can move at rates of 6 meters per minute. They also have better sight and more guided actions than other jellyfish due to their more complex nervous system. They also actively hunt their prey rather than wait for their prey to come. Stinging takes place through contact with the tentacles. The venomous type of box jellyfish lives in the waters of the Indo-Pacific. Humans who are stung by this poisonous type of jellyfish can have their cardiovascular system collapse and encounter death within 2-5 minutes. 7. Tse Tse Fly This large blood sucking fly is the primary carrier of African Sleeping Sickness and is therefore indirectly responsible for killing up to a quarter of a million people every year. 6. Brazilian Wandering Spider Meet the most venomous spider in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. What makes this critter so dangerous though is also how it got its name – a tendency to wander. They are often found hiding in houses and cars of densely populated areas, especially during daytime. Not a good combination. 5. Polar Bear The polar bear is native to the land and water within the Arctic Circle. It is the largest meat-eating animal in the world, and can weigh up to 700 kilograms and can be up to 3 meters in length. Polar bears are excellent swimmers and very effective predators with their keen sense of smell. Their food of choice is seals. Although polar bears are more apt to run than fight when provoked, they have been known to attack, kill, and eat humans. They are also fearless and very powerful, and have no natural predators. 4. Hippopotamus Although they are mostly herbivorous, they are also highly aggressive and are widely regarded as one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. They have been known to attack humans without provocation even to the point of destroying entire vehicles. 3. Saltwater Crocodile Sitting at the top of its food chain the Saltwater Crocodile has been known to eat everything from water buffalo to sharks. In order to kill its food it make use of a technique called the “death roll” where it relentlessly flips its prey over and over in the water until it drowns and then comes apart. 2. Snakes Living snakes are found on almost every continen. Many species of snakes are dangerous to humans. More than 450 species are venomous, and 250 are capable of killing a person. Most venomous bites occur in Africa, Asia, and North America. These cold-blooded reptiles are also cold-blooded killers, and it always seems the further you get away from home, the deadlier they get. The toxicity of some snakes are incredibly severe. These things tend to kill humans for one simple reason: they feel provoked. Plain and simple: It’s their natural defense mechanism to lash out with razor-sharp teeth and sink venom into your skin. These caused 100,000-plus deaths per year. 1. Mosquito Now we come to one of the smallest animal. As small as it is though, it is also the deadliest. It has been estimated that mosquitos transmit diseases to almost 700 million people annually resulting in 700.000 - 900.000 deaths every year.
