13. I am Asian but hey, let's just give those people in western countries a break. I've heard so many western names pronounced incorrectly by Asian people like Chinese, Korean and Japanese. So you ought to think the reverse and understand that people in western countries are mostly not "built" to pronounce Asian names with absolutely no mistakes. The fact is, many western people have never learnt an Asian language before! And I can tell you that many of them can't even tell the differences among Korean, Japanese and Chinese just by the look of our faces.
    
    Exactly the same thing has happened to me before. Back to 12 years ago, I was totally unable to distinguish a black person from another one when I was watching NBA matches. And until today I am still not quite able to distinguish a white guy's voice from another one's, because somehow many of them all sound exactly the same. And I have embarrassed myself so many times because of this. Received a phone call from someone, I said "Oh hello dis bro how are you?" But then he said "Nah I'm dat bro, not dis bro." I said "Uhhh...I'm so sorry bro..."
    
    Another thing is, even western people can sometimes pronounce each other's name incorrectly because of the differences among their mother tongues. Try to pronounce the word "hangar" in both English and French, you will hear the difference yourself.
    
    So after all, to me, saying you felt like you were racially discriminated just because someone pronounced your name incorrectly is totally a bitch's move.
