  18. aliens aren't real
  19. I'm prepared to believe in any number & variety of alien life forms--
EXCEPT intelligent life. I'll provide just a couple of my MANY reasons for this :
You can talk about all the sextillion Earthlike worlds in the universe, but any "Earthlike" world in another galaxy is much too far away for anything we do to ever affect THEM in any way, or for anything they ever do to affect US in any way, so that for all practical purposes it's exactly as if they didn't exist at all.

...& let's take a closer look at exactly what scientists are calling Earthlike. That's how they've classified planets with up to 5x the gravity of Earth, orbiting so close to their suns that the daytime temps are 400+ degrees, with no known water & opaque methane
    atmospheres. "Earthlike?!"
...but in our own galaxy-- & presumably elsewhere-- current estimates are that some 98% to 99% of all stars are Population II, metal-poor stars, that are very UNLIKE our Sun. The stars of globular clusters & nearer than us to the Galactic Center ALL fall into this category. There is no reason whatsoever to think that ANY of these stars could support life.
Stars nearer to the galactic core than we are would be exposed to far greater life-killing radiation. Likewise stars in the star clusters, which is where most of 'em are. Then there are all the stars (a majority of them) which are exposed to nearby supernovae every few
millions of years, killing any life that they may have.
Not every planet with microbes on it (life) is gonna have intelligent aliens. Not even every planet with PLANTS on it is gonna have intelligent aliens. Not every planet with FISH, nor with INSECTS is gonna have intelligent aliens, nor with ANIMALS on it that have become extinct is gonna have intelligent aliens, & not even every planet with EXISTING animals is gonna have intelligent aliens.
If 1 in 1000 potentially Earthlike worlds develops microbes, & 1 in 1000 of them develops plants, & 1 in 1000 of THEM develops fish, bugs, animals, & intelligence, then that's an incidence of intelligence of 1x10/-18, or 0.0000000000000000001, or 1 world with
intelligent life out of one million BILLION candidates. That isn't out of a million billion STARS, but 1 out of a million billion SUNLIKE stars. To put this number in context, it's estimated there are about 200 million stars-- TOTAL-- in our own galaxy. That's one
world with intelligent life out of 5 BILLION galaxies like our own, even if every star in our galaxy were Sunlike-- which they aren't.
...furthermore, evolutionary thinking has long been that the only reason that aquatic life on Earth emerged onto land is b/c marine creatures kept getting caught in tide pools where their survival came to depend on evolving to use their swim bladders as lungs. Tide pools are produced by the Earth's large, very close-orbiting Moon. Our Moon is larger in relationship to the Earth & orbits closer than any other satellite in the Solar System, & it's believed to have been catastrophically formed, so that a moon of similar size should be a very rare thing in the universe. No Moon, no tide pools. No tide pools, life never emerges onto land. Life never emerges onto land, then no fire. ALL human technology-- & presumably alien technology-- is based on fire. No fire, then NO technologically advanced aliens.
I could go on like this for several more pages, but I trust the point has been made. Regardless of the ridiculous assertions of scientists, their own SCIENCE clearly means that it's at least as reasonable to believe that intelligent life is extremely RARE as it is to believe that it's common. MORE reasonable, in fact.
...& that brings us to the Fermi Paradox. If intelligent aliens ARE common, then half of 'em should be more technologically advanced than we are. If there were even 100 alien civilizations in our own galaxy, then at least 50 of 'em should be more advanced. Probably MORE than 50, since humanity is in its infancy. It should soon be possible even for US to build self-replicating space probes-- von Neuman machines-- that, even at sublight speeds, would be able to explore the entire galaxy within a few million years or so. So if intelligent aliens are really common, then where the heck ARE they all?
  20. alien aint real
