Apart from attempting to pull your arm out of your shoulder every time they tug on the leash, we cannot really see the power that they pack. In fact, there are some pretty strong dogs out there, and some breeds have been bred with strength in mind. From wrangling cattle to fighting bears, from bringing down raging bulls to chasing away entire packs of wolves, dogs have done it and have been doing it for a long time now. Even though we have evolved and most of the old days are behind us, we count down the top 10 strongest dog breeds in the world and take a look at how they have evolved and how their heritage has been maintained. Of course if you’re interested in learning about other strong breeds, we recommend you a pleasant lecture: The Dog Encyclopedia. You’ll learn quite a lot about various breeds all over the world. When looking at the strongest dog breeds we excluded extinct dog breeds and chose to dismiss Guinness world record holding dogs as being an exceptional individual of his or her breed and not a clear cut representative of that breed. We have also chosen to look for the dog breeds that manifest the biggest power / weight ratio and no simply stop at the breeds that rely on their body weight alone to give the illusion of strength.

    Not only are American Pitbulls strong, but they are undoubtely the tougher. There is a video by a well-known expert on American Pitbulls that talks about recorded accounts of the breed being used to battle large animals, even big cats. The video is called ALL ABOUT THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER WITH RICHARD F. STRATTON. Many know him as Richard F. Stratton. He even says they were beating big cats. And the matches were one-on-one sometimes. It is because the American Pitbull, while smaller and not as heavy, was tougher, had better stamina, and possessed gameness (the eagerness and willingness to do despite the threat of serious injury) that lions simply don't have. Many big cats ran away. But that is not really surprising given the fact that American Pitbulls were bred to take on animals much larger and stronger than lions. They were bred to take on bulls. 14. FINALLY ! A list makes a real life conclusion :The Turkish/Kurdish Kangal is the strongest dog on earth. I've seen many breeds and NONE other than the Kangal that could tear through a pack of wolves like a shredder. It is an awe inspiring beast with no equal.

16. My top ten list. 1)Turkish Kangal there are but many versions of this dog. the bigest being the boz sheperd & askaray Miliki then the Kangal. I have seen them over 40 inches at shoulders & over 240 lbs 2) Central Asian sheperd (ones from russia they get huge) 3) Caucasion Sheperd 4) Boerboel 5) German Rottweiler 6) Cane Corso 7) Fila Brasilio 8) Tibetan Mastif 9) Presa canario 10) Great Dane Now remember my list does not go by for lb for lb.
