U.S. Drops Its Biggest Non-Nuclear Bomb on Afghans, Already Traumatized by Decades of War

http://democracynow.org - In Afghanistan on Thursday, the United States military dropped its most powerful non-nuclear bomb ever—the Massive Ordnance Air Blast, or MOAB, nicknamed "The Mother of All Bombs." The 21,600-pound bomb reportedly unleashed an explosion equivalent to 11 tons of TNT with a mile-wide blast radius. This comes as the United Nations recently published a report saying airstrikes from the Afghan government forces and the U.S.-led coalition killed nearly 600 civilians in 2016—almost twice as many than in 2015. The U.S. war in Afghanistan is the longest war in U.S. history, extending into its 16th year. We are joined by Kathy Kelly, co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, a campaign to end U.S. military and economic warfare. She just returned from Afghanistan earlier this month. We also speak with Wazhmah Osman, professor of media and communication at Temple University and member of the Afghan American Artists and Writers Association. So many Americans think about other countries cultures from there ignorant ' American way of life' attitude. Side note:(They do fake news also way before it came up in our last election). They would kill a baby just to say that MOAB did it because that is part of their propaganda machine. 12. I can't believe that there is anyone left who still supports US foreign policy as it stands and has been for decades. Well before the 2nd invasion of Iraq and well before the majority of us here commenting were born our foreign policy has stayed it's course, all the way Our commanders and chiefs grandstand with lofty promises of peace, intent to protect human rights, democracy, blah, blah, blah. I don't know about you but i think most would agree that if your goal is peace/ justice and your method to obtain it over the course of 50, 60, 70 years is a fucking failure ... that it is perhaps time to try something else.
    
    Maybe we don't want a solution, maybe we are not looking for justice, and there is no evidence to support we have any intention to do so but what can be plainly seen is and proven is how some entities profit immensely from war and that some entities amass great amounts of power from war and benefit from certain nations and demographics to remain in perpetual states of chaos and poverty.
    
    ... and what's worse and now we have the most blatant whore ever to make the white house his brothel. We will be sold out like never before and I thought Bush and Obama were bad, Trump is a horror show. They are all evil but this time our president does not have a heart or a brain.
