Brazilian couple Paulo Gabriel da Silva Barros and Katyucia Hoshino Barros, broke the Guinness World Record to become the shortest married couple in the world, an achievement that was verified on Thursday in London. Katyucia measures 91.13cm (2.99 ft) while Paulo is 90.28cm (2.96 ft) in height; together, the two reach a combined height of 1.81m (5.9 ft). They were married in September this year after dating for eight years, and now live together in Paulo’s hometown of Itapeva, Brazil. Paulo Gabriel da Silva Barros, Guinness World record holder for shortest married couple (Portugese): "So, I still really can't believe it. Can't believe it. It was our dream to get this title. Today we are very thankful, especially to God and to Guinness in giving us this title. But still, it seems like it's a dream. I'm really happy to get the title of the shortest couple in the world." Katyucia Hoshino Barros, Guinness World record holder for shortest married couple (Portugese): "First of all we are very thankful to God, that he gave us this opportunity and prepared us to get here. We are very grateful and feeling really happy to be part of Guinness' history. I don't know until when, but hopefully, with God's blessing, for many years. But we are very thankful and happy to be part of Guinness, the Guinness family and the Guinness' history. And we are also very happy to be able to show people that although there are difficulties and limitations in each one of us, we can still be happy, no matter what. It's just about wanting to. It's about idealising, having faith and believing that everything happens at the right moment. This is why we are very happy now. It is because we can show the world that besides everything, we can still be happy and everything happens at the right moment."
