The hype surrounding the NFL and NBA drafts normally put too many players on a national stage, while only a few live up to the task. Vince Young put on one of the greatest shows in college football history, but his game never translated to the NFL level. Fred was brilliant at points in his footballing career, but was unable to play as well for Brazil. Greg Oden was a bonafide star coming out of college, except injuries plagued his career after being selected No. 1 overall. Who is the biggest bust in sports? 6. how about that white guy who got chosen over Peyton... How about Tebow????
  7. Tim tebow
  8. Is VY a true bust? Maybe a burn out but he did win ROY and make the playoffs before he disappeared into obscurity.
  9. Adu?
  10. Freddy Adu
  11. JaMarcus Russell as Owners still gave Ryan Leaf and Vince Young chances to prove themselves and fail. JaMarcus is still presently trying to make a comeback after that horror show in OAKLAND, he was a #1 overall pick (more guaranteed $) compared to #22 Johnny Manziel.

  14. Rocco is my friend's Dad, why'd you have to do him like that lmao
  15. these are not the best busts. Not for world football or American sports. Here are the real busts:

Ryan Leaf - QB (drafted one pick after peyton manning, lasted one season)
Sam Bowie - Center (drafted in NBA ahead of MJ in 84)
Michael Johnston - MCFC (next gerrard)
    Greg Oden - Center
    Jamarcus Russell - QB
    Robinho - RMFC & Brazil
  16. I do agree that busts are something you talk about in American sports due to the college set-up and what not. But in Football (European) one name comes to mind and that is Ravel Morrison.
He was hyped up like no one ever was and Fergie said he was the best youth player he had ever seen, and that was the man who promoted the Class of '92. He was so good at youth level, like unbelievable. I remember him and Pogba just being absolutely incredible, and Ravel was the better of the two, Rio Ferdinand has come out and said that Pogba idolised him.
He was on pace to becoming an absolute world-beater and a future Ballon d'Or winner, but he made a string of terrible decisions. But despite that, Fergie didnt release him, because he was that good, and that is the man that sold Roy Keane, David Beckham, Ruud van Nistlerooy all because of something they did off the pitch
  17. Jarmarcus Russell is undoubtedly the biggest bust of all time. Goes 1st overall to the raiders that NEED a QB. Gets payed the highest rookie contract of all time. One of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time and now he's telling teams he will pay for free if they give him a chance
  18. Tiger's not a bust now, he is just a bad player now. Not the same player he used to be.

I think the term "bust" should only be applied to players who never amounted to anything, especially if they had high expectations of them. Ryan Leaf and Johnny Manziel are busts because a lot of hype was put on them and people ignored their character flaws.

Even though you wouldn't consider Greg Oden to be a bust due to injury, he is a bust because a franchise put their future into this one guy that couldn't stay healthy. For that reason Sam Bowie is also a bust. He was not a bad player, he was just injury prone and he became forgotten once guys from that same draft (Hakeem, Jordan) became more accomplished

Let's not act like there haven't been successful scrambling quarterbacks in the NFL. It has happened before, but like with all players, you just gotta make sure that before you draft a player, that he has the right attitude for a team, commitment, work ethic, etc.

But don't misuse the Bust label. A four time all star who now sucks is not suddenly a bust. They're just a bad player now, or "washed up"
  19. What about Adrien broner
