  1. It's incredible how fast they were looking at their body shapes. They don't look athletic at all, or maybe it's their attire or something, but compared to the six-pack abs on today's female elite track athletes, these runners in 1972 look awfully out of shape.
  2. Better bodies through chemistry!
  3. What happened to the cute German runner that quit the race?  Was she on that stretcher?
  4. Carey of GB 5th - robbed of medal by cheating eastern  Europeans?
  6. ОТЛИЧНАЯ БОРЬБА!
  7. Teenager, 17 year-old Glenda Reiser of Canada followed Bragina to the line in the heat ... she also ran under the old world record and set a Canadian and World Junior Record with 4:06.71, Bragina ran 4:06.52 .
  8. pretty impressive considering the early days of steroids......where were the usa?????getting the drug programme perfected?
  9. I'm fascinated by this video because as a kid I use to read books about the Olympics. The book included a picture or two, but I never had the opportunity to see the actual race. Can you post 1972 women's 800, 1976 women's 1500 semi & final and 1980 women's 1500 final?
  10. Thank you for this info! Indeed legendary norwegian was 6th in her heat 4.16,00.
  11. Another interesting fact was Grete Waitz's participation in this discipline, though she didn't make it to the final.
  12. Wonderful, I have never seen this race before, so thank you so much for this. I would like to see the rounds to this competition as well.
  13. There are some other interesting facts too. For example, in this final race even 5(!) athletes run faster than the previous world record set by Bragina in semifinals. Overall (including heats and semifinals) there were 12(!) marks ahead of the pre-München world record.
  14. Fabulous Olympic competition footage! I had never seen this race. Ludmila Bragina's front running after 800 meters was bold and well calculated.
  15. Also she broke the record twice in the heats
