World Record Roller Coaster Opens at Carowinds

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The "world's tallest and fastest giga-coaster" opened this week at Carowinds. The Fury 325 is named for its height--325 feet in the air, tall enough to fit the Statue of Liberty underneath. The initial 81-degree angle drop rockets you up to 95 miles per hour over 1 1/4 miles of track. The ride lasts more than 3 minutes, with plenty of gut-wrenching moments. "That feeling of weightlessness...we tried to deliver that as much as possible on this ride," Rob Decker said, Senior VP at Cedar Fair Entertainment, which owns Carowinds. Want to try the coaster? Opening day for the park is March 28!
