World Records - swimmer sets record for swimming in the Antarctic

Extreme swimmer Lewis Pugh has set a new world record for the most southerly long-distance swim, conquering the icy Antarctic waters at 65 degrees south. The 1 km swim follows just months after a record Arctic swim, making the British solicitor the first person to accomplish such a feat in both the world's coldest seas. Sporting only a swimsuit, cap and goggles, Pugh took less than 19 minutes to complete the swim near Vernadsky, a scientific base on Antarctica, in water of 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) and heavy snow. www.itnsource.com Reuters 17880/05

10.  I do 700 metres in 10C water in winter Venice Italy, it takes 3 minutes for my head to stop hurting so that I can then swim freestyle! but this guy went straight into freestyle at that temp? super human indeed much respect to him
11. you don't need it cause it's so cold your body is using everything you have to keep you warm
12. this is in the arctic, they even said it in the video. you can also tell because IT HARDLY EVER SNOWS IN THE SOUTH POLE.AND IT WAS SNOWING IN THIS VIDEO. the south pole is like an ice desert
