Sled speeds might seem slow to you, but realize that snowmobiles have drivetrain losses many times higher than a wheeled vehicle.
You have to understand that small engines put out good hp figures because they normally rev very high. 340cc sled engines in race trim would do 110+hp 30 yrs ago.
I'm not so impressed! a 250 ccm kart or a road racer has close to 90hp. So with 1700 ccm it ought to make +600 hp

@netefrog Longevity issues? Ever heard what 2-stroke outboard boat engines do? They are treated harder than car engines and last as long. With DI and oil injection they outlast 4-strokes.
