X+Y Scene Clip - Nathan solves math problem

X+Y follows Nathan, an awkward, idiosyncratic teenager, grappling with the sudden death of the one person who understood him; his father. As he struggles to connect with those around him, he is introduced to an anarchic and unconventional maths teacher who takes Nathan under his wing. Soon Nathan finds himself selected for the UK Mathematics Squad and, against the odds, representing his country in Taipei. Over there, the academically gifted aren't bullied but celebrated, envied and even invited to parties. Nathan's rational brain can cope with the most complex of maths problems just fine, the real test comes when he meets his female exchange partner, Zhang Mei, and has to cope with falling in love; the most irrational thing of all. Written by James Graham and directed by BAFTA Award winner Morgan Matthews. Starring Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine, An Education), Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Hugo), Rafe Spall (Life of Pi, Prometheus), Jo Yang and Eddie Marsan (War Horse, Sherlock Holmes).

Comments

  1. of course, the Asian girl chases after him, I am not surprised. xD
  2. So is this a math class or a love triangle?
  3. what movie is this? anyone?
  4. So god damn edgy. He is solving a math problem but it sounds and looks like he is fighting in war against an army on his own.
  5. This is some 3rd grade level math, lol.
  6. And i thought i was a dumbass
  7. why is that every time a guy from any movie is explaining the technical details (in this case the characteristics of a convergent series) the background music starts getting louder and louder to drown out the dialogues? This happens mostly in math/science related movies quite often (Good Will Hunting as well when they were explaining continued fractions done by Ramanujan). I feel this is deliberate & that's just sad. No wonder math & physics are not popular.
  8. Man, I feel stuped
  9. What a show off!
  10. I hate how this video misinterprets the difficulty of math. IMO-level problems are generally significantly harder, and this problem would be the equivalent of one in an AMC contest, the lowest level of mathematics competitions in the US.
  11. Music too loud. Can't hear what he's saying.
  12. Everytime I get to a spot like that(unexpectedly called), I'll give a serious face and say pass.

I call it the "I don't know the answer I should've studied more I promise to study harder so I won't disappoint you, my parents and classmates" look

works 100% on the first use. if use on the same professor it decreases by 15% per usage tho
  13. is thi from movie
  14. Good job Asa!❤ Love you si much
  15. is this supposed to be highschool or something? I haven't seen the movie.
  16. wtf music is loud than his lecture...!!
  17. I don't understand what's so significant about proving the sequence terminates?
  18. THE REASON THE BACKGROUND MUSIC IS SO LOUD IS BECAUSE THE EQUATION MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE THE DIRECTOR ISNT AN INTELLECTUAL SO THEY HOPE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO TELL THAT THE ACTOR IS JUST TALKING SHITE THAT MAKES NOW SENSE
  19. Whats Ender doing in a classroom?
  20. that was quite an easy question....
